From Ada Lovelace to ADA Lab

At ADA Lab, we believe in the power of technology to reshape our world, but more importantly, we believe in the women behind that technology. Our inspiration comes from Ada Lovelace, the world’s first programmer, who envisioned the potential of machines far beyond her time. Her groundbreaking work serves as a symbol of innovation, creativity, and breaking boundaries—qualities that are as relevant today as they were in the 19th century. Ada Lovelace wasn’t just a mathematician; she was a visionary. At a time when women were often excluded from intellectual fields, she defied societal expectations. Her work alongside Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine—the first concept of a general-purpose computer—was driven by a belief in the limitless possibilities of imagination combined with technology. Ada saw beyond numbers, foreseeing a future where machines could compose music, create art, and solve complex problems, all of which resonate deeply in today’s world of creative technologies.

So why do we honor Ada Lovelace at ADA Lab? The answer lies in the challenges women still face in technology today. Despite significant progress, women remain underrepresented in many tech sectors, particularly in creative fields like game design, virtual reality, and digital marketing. Ada’s story reminds us that women have always been capable of shaping the future; they just need the platform and the tools to do so.

At ADA Lab, we have created a space where women can explore their creative potential through immersive technologies, inspired by Ada’s pioneering spirit. Our founder, Onnie, shares this vision deeply. Onnie’s own journey of empowerment began with her mother—a woman who turned personal loss into a legacy of strength, education, and opportunity. Onnie's education at Yale and the University of Adelaide opened her eyes to the gender imbalances that persist in technology, but instead of waiting for change, she decided to create it. ADA Lab was born out of her belief in the transformative power of education, creativity, and community.

Through ADA Lab, we aim to embody Ada Lovelace’s legacy—fostering innovation, curiosity, and courage in the next generation of women. We are building a future where women don’t just participate in creative technologies but lead, innovate, and redefine them. Every step we take honors Ada’s spirit of possibility, and every woman who walks through our doors is a part of that journey.

Together, we can build a world where women in technology thrive, innovate, and leave a lasting impact on the future.

Welcome to ADA Lab—where creativity meets possibility and where women in tech come to shine.
